Dr. Marquez received his Msc and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad Politecnica of Madrid (UPM, Spain) in 1994 and 1998, respectively. He is currently a full time Professor in the Dep. of Mechanical Engineering at ETSII-UPM. His research work focuses on the design and development of high precision manufacturing systems and polymer microfabrication technologies. He has led two research projects in the area of MEMS micromanufacturing, and he has participated as associate researcher in many others.He has led six education innovation projects funded by UPM, and currently he is the head of Education Innovation Group of manufacturing engineering. He has been visiting professor at the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology (USA) in 1996,2005 and 2009, collaborating in research groups at the Manufacturing Research Center.
El Profesor Márquez obtuvo su Titulación de Ingeniería Industrial y Doctorado en Ingeniería Industrial por la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid en 1994 y 1998 respectivamente. En la actualidad es profesor con dedicación completa en el Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica de la ETSII-UPM. Su trabajo de investigación se centra en el diseño y desarrollo de sistemas de fabricación de precisión y tecnologías de microfabricación en polímero. Ha liderado dos proyectos de investigación en el área de microfabricación de Micro-sistemas electro-mecánicos (MEMS), y ha participado como investigador asociado en muchos otros. Ha liderado 6 proyectos de innovación educativa financiados por UPM, y actualmente dirige el grupo de innovación educativa de Ingeniería de Fabricación, obtuvo el premio de innovación educativa de UPM en 2012. Ha sido profesor visitante en la George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering en Georgia Institute of Technology (USA) en 1996,2005 y 2009 colaborando en grupos de investigación del Centro de Investigación en Fabricación del citado insituto.
